BENEFITING: SEA TURTLE CONSERVANCY
EVENT DATE: Sep 12, 2015
Me and my friend Tereza are very excited to go to the state of Goa in India this year in the month of September to be part of the Mission Rabies volunteering campaign, which has a massive target of vaccinating 60,000 dogs in 30 days and educate thousands of children in the prone area about Rabies prevention and control.
We will be part of a large volunteering team which will aim to vaccinate over 10,000 dogs and educate thousands of children all over the state.
We will be working for two weeks from 7.30 am to 5 pm everyday, including weekends.
It was quite alarming for us to know that a child dies every hour in India and thousands of healthy dogs are killed inhumanly fearing this disease and it does not halt the disease. Rabies is completely 100% preventable, so we decided to do something about this and also be part of something real.
We need you!
We will be needing your help in raising the funds for the two weeks accomodation, food and participation (528 euros) each and raise a minimum of 486 euros each for the community. We will be flying to India from Europe and the flights cost about 600 euros each.
The rasied money for the Mission is spent on the following:
50 p - teaches a child how to protect themselves
5 € - feeds 10 dogs while they are being cared for post - ABC surgery
25 € - vaccinates 100 dogs against rabies for a whole year
100 € - arms the dog catchers with 10 specialist butterfly nets for safe capture of dogs
300 € - buys 20 fully surgical kits for numerous spray and neuter surgeries.
Thank you for taking some time and thinking about helping.
