Have you noticed all the bustling in and about Out North? Plays, performances, film shoots, events, exhibits, and so much more have been happening at Out North this season, and we’re just getting started. We want to invite you to be a part of Out North’s success.
Out North Contemporary Art House seeks your immediate support to continue its growth and the artist community advocacy that we have developed over the past few months. Out North’s success and momentum is due the incredible support of a volunteer Executive Director and community art community liaison who specializes in maximizing resources and volunteer management. Since March, our E.D has focused on building on the core mission and the internal capacity of Out North, to advance contemporary art in Anchorage by presenting experimental work, supporting under-represented voices and encouraging cultural dialogue.
These specialized skill sets have been vital in rejuvenating and modernizing our infrastructure, and streamlining operations. With this support, we are now a full service Art House that can connect with the diverse communities of Anchorage through numerous artistic endeavors.
Highlights of the last few months include: special community events and discussions, the re-launch of KONR 106.1 FM Out North Radio, co-productions of “The WInter’s Tale”, and “Constellations”, and an in-house partnership with Anchorage’s bilingual quarterly newspaper Sol de Medianoche.
We are overjoyed with the direction Out North is going and need your help to ensure that Out North continues its work and expands the legacy of the last 30 years. Out North is receiving positive feedback from both new and long-time supporters in the arts and community. The growing media attention echoes Out North’s positive direction, here are a couple of examples of media showcasing the re-vamped Out North radio station KONR and the highly successful production of "Constellations"
We are asking for your immediate support to keep this momentum growing. Help Out North continue to be a beacon of creative hope and inspiration for the arts in Anchorage.
Time is of the essence as we are moving into an August gallery presentation with artists to coincide with our September co-production with RKP that will address communities affected by Alzheimer’s and Down’s Syndrome. The production will include panel discussions from community leaders focused on advocacy for both the communities. Other events to look forward to include an intimate performance by Nellie Clay in August, the 13th annual Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration in November, and many other events and exhibits throughout the season.
On behalf of the Out North family and the community that relies on a environment to share their voice … we thank you.
