My name is Adam Peterman, and I'm a senior at Hellgate High School in Missoula, Montana. This December, Mike Foote and I will attempt to travel on our own power from the lowest point in the US to the highest point in the lower 48. From Badwater, in Death Valley, California at -280 feet, to Mount Whitney, Calaifornia, 14,500 feet tall and 150 miles away, for a net elevation gain of 14,774, hence the name. This will the adventure of a lifetime, and we are fundraising for the nonprofit Outdoor Nation, which is a program that takes kids into the outdoors.

Two years ago, a group of 500 young leaders from across the country traveled to New York City and participated in the largest, most diverse Outdoor Summit of its kind – officially launching Outdoor Nation. Over the past year, thousands of Millennials have joined together to inspire a new generation of outdoor champions – attending regional summits, starting campus outing clubs and launching awesome on-the-ground projects. To date, Outdoor Nation has invested more than $150,000 directly into more than 50 youth-led programs and more than $1 million overall – the only national outdoor initiative that gives funding to young super-stars to transform ideas into action.
In just a couple of years, the Outdoor Nation community has engaged tens of thousands of their peers and youth across the country in outdoor adventures and activism. It’s time to take our work to the next level!
This summer, Outdoor Nation will be holding 10 Summits – bringing America’s best and brightest young leaders together to brainstorm innovative ideas that increase outdoor youth participation. Through The Outdoor Foundation, Outdoor Nation will once again be investing up to $100,000 in youth-led projects developed during the Summits – but we want to help Summit participants raise an additional $100,000 to support amazing project ideas.
In a first-of-its-kind fundraising campaign, Outdoor Nation is joining forces with Crowdrise to give its community of young leaders a powerful platform to raise money for their Summit project ideas. Outdoor Nation will provide some seed funding and technical support and oversight but we need friends and family to help move our movement forward. Please check out and support America’s future outdoor champions – today!
Together, we will build a strong Outdoor Nation for this and future generations!
