ORGANIZER: Theater Offensive, Inc.
EVENT: 2012 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 16, 2012
It's that time of year again when I could really use your love and support for a GREAT cause. On April 16th, I will be running in the Boston Marathon raise awareness and money to support The Theater Offensive's ground-breaking, life-changing, and often times, life-saving programs.
The Theater Offensive's True Colors: OUT Youth Theater create a safe haven where LGBT youth and their straight allies are supported and challenged to engage fully in their own personal, social, and artistic development. True Colors work with at-risk LGBT youth and allies in the creation of original theater pieces based on personal experiences, including: bullying, homelessness, harassment, discrimination, and suicide.
My goal is to raise $8,000 to provide the much needed funds to make sure no LGBT youth go without help.
No amount is too little. But, if you need inspiration, then please consider making a donation at one of the following levels:
- $26 - A dollar for every mile in the marathon
- $42 - A dollar for every kilometer in the marathon (if you speak Euro)
- $75 - The amount I hope many of you will give
- $110 - A dollar for every percent I'll be giving on race day
- $240 - A dollar for every minute I'll be running on race day - that’s 4 hours
- $500 - A dollar for every mile I'll run in my training for the big day – the distance between Boston and NYC is 190 miles. The amount I’ll be training is equivalent to running/driving back and forth 2.63 times.
- $__ Any other amount you'd like!
Now finishing its 23rd year, TTO's programming is designed to prioritize the self-identified needs of low-income residents of color, reflect the diversity of the neighborhoods, and give voice to underserved LGBT members of Boston’s many communities.
The Theater Offensive is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

More about The Theater Offensive:
The Theater Offensive’s mission is to form and present the diverse realities of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lives in art so bold it breaks through personal isolation and political orthodoxy to help build an honest, progressive community.
The Theater Offensive: OUT In Your Neighborhood (OUT'hood) programming reflects the diversity of the city of Boston, gives voice to underserved LGBT community members, creates avenues for cross-cultural dialogue and breaks down the barriers of homophobia, bigotry and hate.
At its core, OUT’hood empowers local residents to be agents for social change by embracing the concept of OUTness. OUTness is defined as being honest with yourself about who you are and sharing that openly with other people. While the term ‘OUT’ is most often associated with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) movement for equal civil rights, the concept of OUTness resonates far beyond the LGBT community – especially in areas with high levels of racism, poverty and violence. Through lively public dialogue, OUT’hood will help empower neighbors to stay true to themselves, as well as create safer, more vibrant neighborhoods. OUT in Your Neighborhood involves three types of programs: 1. Collective Creation; 2. Neighborhood Productions; and 3. Community Events.
