Hi everyone! I'm Lauren and thank you for visiting my fundraiser page. My husband, close friend and I are participating in the tough mudder race in Wisconsin this fall and raising money towards the American Diabetes Association in honor of my mom, Debbie. Last year, labor day weekend was a warm beautiful three day weekend that my husband and I spent making our last cutting of hay for the season. We were so thankful for the perfect weather to harvest our crop and get it stored for winter. Unfortunately, it was also my family's reunion, but coming from a farming family when the weather is nice - You make HAY! I called mom that night after we got in from the field to see how the reunion went. She was thrilled we got our hay done and of course missed us, but understood we had work to do. She told me she was planning on making peach jam the next day so when I came to visit I would have some to take home. "Have a good night Lauren. Tell Miss Amrie Grandma misses her. I'll call you tomorrow in between batches." That was the last time I heard her voice.... My cell phone rang while I was at work, it was about 10:30 a.m. It was by brother...I remember staring at my phone...why is Matty calling me? My mother passed away in her sleep. After becoming diabetic from gestational diabetes, she battled this disease for almost 30 years. The biggest nightmare for diabetics came true for our family. Her blood sugar fell so low in her sleep it caused her heart to stop. This is the raw horrifying truth of this disease and why we are raising money so hopefully, someday, others won't receive the phone call I did on September 6, 2016. Thank you to all who can support us has we train for the 5 mile obstacle course! Even if it just encouraging words, we are so grateful for you all.
