BENEFITING: OUTRUN THE SUN INC
EVENT DATE: Apr 27, 2012
On November 26th, 2012 my family lost our beloved Gramps to melanoma. He was my grandpa and a new great-grandfather to my daughter, but also a husband, father, an uncle, and a friend. He loved sports of all kind and had more competitive blood running through his body than anyone I've ever known. During his earlier years you could find him at Meadowbrook park playing pick-up basketball with the neighborhood kids. Later when he moved to New Orleans, he spent a lot of time on the tennis court. He loved cheering on his children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities. In fact, his loud voice was one you couldn't miss in the New Haven High School gym.
This Spring, I plan to run two half marathons in memory of my beloved Gramps. I know, just like everything else, he will be cheering me on from the heavens. On April 27th, I will participate in the Kentucky Derby Half Marathon and then on May 5th I will set out for the Flying Pig Half Marathon.
My goal is to raise $2,000 for "Outrun the Sun". Outrun the Sun, Inc. is dedicated to building national awareness of melanoma and other skin cancers, educating communities about preventive measures that reduce melanoma’s incidence rate, and raising funds for melanoma research.
Will you join me in remembering and honoring my Gramps by making a donation?
