Outrun the Sun, Inc. (OTS) is a nonprofit organization recognized for engaging individuals and organizations in support of skin cancer education and melanoma research.

Through its Outrun the Sun Melanoma Research Scholar Program, OTS has supported 22 melanoma researchers at respected medical institutions including Harvard University, Mayo Clinic, Indiana University Glick Eye Institute, MD Anderson, University of California-Irvine, University of Chicago, Wake Forest Medical Center, Kimmel Cancer Center, St. John's University, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Medical University of South Caroline and New York University. The Pamela Hene Melanoma Research Fund, William E. Holland Melanoma Research Fund and Rochester Melanoma Action Group help to support this program.

In 2014, Outrun the Sun launched the largest one-day sun safety initiative ever established in the United States in partnership with the Verizon IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Each year more than 300,000 fans attending the historic Indianapolis 500 receive sunscreen and ultraviolet wristbands. Race fans also have the opportunity to see and hear sun safety public service announcements featuring Verizon IndyCar Series driver and OTS spokesperson, Josef Newgarden. Thousands more are reached through messages broadcast on the IMS Radio Network. Funding from the John Gongos Melanoma Education Fund helped launch this program.

OTS partners with Girl Scout councils across America to provide the Outrun the Sun 'Sun Safety Patch' to help young scouts learn about skin cancer prevention. Outrun the Sun also works with outher organizations including the Boy Scouts of America-Crossroads Council, YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, Indiana University School of Medicine, The Weather Channel and more to foster sun safety awareness among children and adults nationwide.

The Outrun the Sun Race Against Melanoma benefits skin cancer education and melanoma research.
