Help the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance advance the interests of women with ovarian cancer. Your support keeps our programs running year after year. Following are some of the services we offer to women with ovarian cancer and their families.
Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives®
This seven-year-old program brings ovarian cancer survivors into medical, nursing and physician assistant student classrooms to tell the stories of their experiences with symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. To date, the Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women’s Lives®program has reached more than 25,000 students and operates in 87 of the nation’s 133 accredited medical schools, 21 nursing schools and 12 physician assistant programs.
Each year, the Alliance hosts the largest ovarian cancer-specific conference in the nation, bringing together researchers, clinicians, survivors and caregivers to learn about the latest developments in diagnosis, treatment and quality of life. The conference culminates with an advocacy day on Capitol Hill.
The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance helps build a community for women with ovarian cancer and their families. We connect those affected by the disease through our online community hosted by Inspire and our Facebook group, and help women with cancer build personalized websites through a partnership with MyLifeLine.org. The Alliance also supports women by offering a clinical trial matching service and answering questions on our website, www.ovariancancer.org, and by phone.
The Teal Journal: The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Periodical of Progress bridges the gap between medical researchers and women with ovarian cancer. This quarterly journal, available at www.tealjournal.org, reports on new research and policy initiatives, and provides expert answers to women’s questions about ovarian cancer.
The Alliance also brings experts to our community through our Ovarian Cancer Webinar Series. Past sessions have offered advice on clinical trials, updated listeners about ovarian cancer research and suggested resources for young survivors.
