BENEFITING: PUBLIC ALLIES INC
Public Allies Arizona, an AmeriCorps program of the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation with the mission to advance new leadership to strengthen communities, nonprofits and civic participation. Public Allies Arizona launched in October of 2006, and as of October of 2012 we are a network of 153 Alumni with more than 80% continuing in the social sector, with five alumni working in our own offices; Celia Williams, alumna of 2007/2008; Erica Schwartzmann, alumna of 2009/2010; Emerson Kuhn, alumnus of 2009; Milo Neild, alumnus of 2009/2010; and Shelley Baudean alumna of 2012.
Having gone through the program ourselves, we understand, honor, and want to share the value of our experiences and the support we received. Through our work, service, and development we were able to see that leadership is about an action many can take, not a position few can hold. We believe that leadership is about the practice of values, and works best when it is: inclusive (everyone has a voice), asset-based (communities are filled with inherent strengths), collaborative (we engage others’ talents and strengths), continuously learning (we seek feedback to improve), has integrity (accountable to those we work with and those we serve). We learned all this from our experience in the program.
We ask that you consider giving to our network so that Public Allies Arizona can continue to identify dedicated, service minded, talented young adults from diverse backgrounds whom want to advance their leadership through a 10-month program of full-time, paid apprenticeships in nonprofit organizations, leadership training, and team service projects.
