I’m writing today to let you know about a group I’m involved with at the University of Pittsburgh, PACT, and our 2nd annual Color Out Cancer 5k and color run, which will take place on April 2, 2017. We are a relatively new student group of just over 100 at the University of Pittsburgh, dedicated to helping to end cancer through fundraising, community outreach, and service. Participating in these events will benefit you and your community as we come together and support the continuation of research into these devastating diseases. Our hope is that this continued research will provide patients and their families with better therapeutic treatments, and, eventually, a cure. As someone who has seen firsthand the aftermath of a cancer diagnosis on a loved one and family, my deepest sympathy is with those currently going through this or watching someone they love fight cancer every day.
Both races have the option of signing up as an individual or signing up as a team (so bring your friends!). Please join us in supporting the members of our community, as all of our proceeds go to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. We are beyond excited to see what this year’s race has in store, but we can’t do it without YOU!
Below are three links: one to learn more about us on PACT’s website, one to sign up for one of the races, and finally, one to my personal fundraising page. I have set a personal goal to raise $500 through this page, so if you are not located in Pittsburgh or can’t make the race, but would still like to contribute, please check out the CrowdRise fundraising link! Again, all donations go to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. If each of us makes a small contribution, we will make a huge difference.
From myself and all of PACT, thank you for reading, and thank you for joining the fight.
