Paddling 4 Prostates
Organized by: Liz Smith
EVENT DATE Jun 22, 2014
My daughter and I will be kayaking approximately 49 miles on the James River from Lake Springfield to Galena to raise money in honor of my dad, Robert Schofield, and Sam Langston who have both been fighting prostate cancer.
My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer three years ago. Since then he has been through several different treatments. He and my mom frequently have to travel to Vanderbilt University in Nashville TN for treatments and clinical trials which require additional travel expenses on top of the typical medical expenses. He loves having his grandkids around the house and enjoys taking them outdoors for adventures at the creek.
Sam Langston like my dad has been working through treatments for prostate cancer as well. Just like my dad, even during treatments he has always made sure he has plenty of quality time with the grandkids! Over the last six years I have had the pleasure of working with both Sam's wife, Ann, and his daughter-in-law, Misti. As I get to know his family I see that both he and my dad despite having cancer have been blessed with amazing family and friends.
Our hope is to give back all the blessings these two guys have given to others. All funds collected will be split between these two familiies to help out with the medical costs from any physisican co-pays, transportation, and prescription costs. We would appreciate any amount you are able to contribute (large or small) to this cause.
