The Political Asylum Immigration Representation Project (PAIR) is a nationally-recognized non-profit, which works to secure safety and freedom for impoverished asylum-seekers, who have fled from torture and persecution throughout the world, and promotes the rights of immigrants unjustly detained.
Most PAIR clients have fled from their home countries after suffering violence for expressing their political opinions or protesting peacefully for change. PAIR clients who have won asylum in the past include a Mauritania woman enslaved and persecuted for her activities opposing slavery, and a Tibetan teacher who suffered for her support of greater religious and political freedoms. PAIR provides legal representation without charge, mainly by recruiting and training pro bono attorneys to help. Having an attorney matters: asylum clients who are represented win asylum five times more often than those who are unrepresented. PAIR has assisted over 9,000 clients in its nearly 25 years of existence. With your support, we can help even more.
PAIR leverages every dollar through its pro bono legal services, valued at over 15 times our actual budget. PAIR has an unparalleled 95% success rate for our asylum clients. Please see our website for more information about how you can help.
“I remember well when I lost every hope and was very afraid for my life. You came to my rescue... People like you keep me going on.” PAIR client from Nigeria.
