Agriculture in Trans Nzoia County is mainly done using a traditional hand hoe and the ox-plough is used at a small scale by a few rich or well to do families.
The common farming method is mixed cropping because of small holdings. The community also practices continuous cropping for the same reason
The common source of labor is family labor which is often small and can not do much compared to some few who add on with hired labour or use the ox-plough.
In some few cases the community has organized labor where they collectively dig in groups to help one another to increase on the garden.
The people of Trans Nzoia County typically use rudimentary farming implements and the land tenure system is such that most of the farmland is fragmented and this has directly impacted on the level of Agricultural output in Trans Nzoia County.
Coupled with the above, the Agricultural extension services are not reaching every farmer therefore need for more sensitization on modern farming through use of improved seeds and animal breeds these need to be supported in a bid to increase Agricultural outputs consequently contributing to food security in Trans Nzoia county.
The Lack of knowledge on pest and disease control has continuously affected agricultural production in the Sub Location therefore calling for community sensitization/trainings better approaches on pest/disease control and management.
