#PantsChallenge for Youth Disabilities
Organized by: Joe DiStefano
EVENT DATE Jan 08, 2016
"The Pants Challenge" (#pantschallenge) started as a joke. One morning, I saw a friend attempting to pull off this stunt and decided it would make a very fun challenge to send out to a few of my friends on social media. After around 72 hours, 50+ people had posted or sent me their videos and thousands had "liked" or commented on people shaking their way into their pants! I realized that this fun idea was doing what I intended, forcing people to "seek out challenge" in their every day life, but was missing the much larger picture.
You see, those of us with the ability to "seek out challenge" are the lucky ones. There are plenty among us that were chosen to live a life full of more challenge than we can choose, or not choose, to create for ourselves. Putting your pants on with no hands then, is a very small conscious effort we can all make to spend just 30 seconds, a minute, maybe two, to raise awareness for those forced to live with physical, intellectual or developmental disabilities each and every day.
So let's raise awareness for our disabled youth. Welcome to the #pantschallenge.
100% of the proceeds will go to the cause. The first $5,000 raised will go to Best Buddies. Specifically, #TeamMaximus. Max Normandin, the son of two personal friends that I have known for 20 years, is a 1-year old boy that's going to "Change the way the world sees Down Syndrome!"
Read all about Max here!
Additional proceeds will go to go to the Special Spartans. Special Spartans was established to deliver authentic, confidence-building experiences to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and/or with cognitive, learning and/or vocational delays.
