Founded in 1976, the Gateway Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America (GPVA) is one of 34 chapters nationwide. We are a Congressionally Chartered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated solely to the benefit and representation of honorably discharged veterans with a spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D).  Our funding comes through private donations and fundraisers like this one; we receive no federal government funding. Our chapter has over 650 members in Missouri and southern portions of Illinois. We are an A+ charity with the St. Louis Better Business Bureau and have a 90.5% program/expense ratio, which means out of every dollar we raise, over $.90 cents goes toward our free programs for members. Gateway is a mission-driven organization with a vision of “Veterans with spinal cord injury or disease, living life to the fullest.” Every program and activity is performed with the realization of that vision as our driving force.
