BENEFITING: SHARE - PREGNANCY AND INFANT LOSS SUPPORT INC
In 2015, the Whaley Family was pleasantly surprised to find out they were pregnant with Twins. Staring at the ultrasound image astonished, Tiffany and Craig saw two babies- each in their own sac, baby girl Parker, and baby boy Reid. Already with two children, ages 4 and 7, they were overjoyed with the news, and began to tell family and friends. Sadly, at there 20 week scan doctors diagnosed baby girl Parker with a rare congenital brain malformation called Alobar Holoprosencephaly. With this being the most severe type, the prognosis often tends to be fatal in the neonatal period. While baby boy, Reid, was healthy, the Doctors said that Parker would probably not make it to term. With Parkers condition the doctors explained that there could be complications with Mom and baby Reid, so they were faced with a decision to either undergo selective termination ,on Parker, or to continue their pregnancy "knowing ahead" that Parker would not live long; if she didn't pass in utero. As a strong believer in Jesus Christ, Tiffany immediately knew her decision. She said that God was in control and he was the only one that could control Parkers outcome. Living day to day, not knowing when it would be Parkers last, Tiffany had the most courage than anyone I have ever seen. She even talked to Life Gift about donating Parkers healthy organs to another child in need. Tiffany's faith and positivity is truly one-of-a-kind, especially with the unimaginable situation she was in. On June 24th the twins were born in a room full of doctors, nurses, her pastor, life gift, and immediate family members. Reid was first to come out, and then came Parker as she let out a loud precious cry. It was amazing to hear her little voice, because the doctors didn't think she would live immediately outside of the womb. Both babies were stable and Parker was such a fighter. The Whaley Family got to go home with both babies, and with Parker having the same diagnosis she was sent home on hospice. Parker passed away in her sleep comfortably at home on July 16th. She lived 3 weeks which was a lot longer than any doctor expected. She is beautiful and it is an amazing blessing that the family got to spend that time with her. She knew how to smile and very rarely would she cry. Not a day passed where she didn't amaze us, and she will forever be in our hearts. Parker's brother, Reid, is doing great! He is such a sweet, smart, handsome little man. They just celebrated their 1st birthday. Tiffany is the Mother of an Angel, and I cannot image how she feels. She has experienced some of the worst times every mother dreads, but yet she is still walking. Its hard to know what to do or say when someone you love is grieving. Some may be afraid of intruding or saying the wrong things. While we cannot take her pain away, I do know that she wants Parker to always be remembered. Its okay to speak about Parker and the great memories some have had with her. The fundraiser profits will go to a charity that can help other mothers in the grieving process. With the day Parker went to heaven coming up this, is a great way to share her story and give Tiffany the peace of knowing that the memories of Parker will always be protected and never allowed to be forgotten.
