EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Parkinson's doesn't wait, so why should we? Every 9 minutes someone is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder that affects one in 100 people over age 60. While the average age at onset is 60, some people are diagnosed at 40 or younger. Recent research indicates that at least one million people in the United States, and more than five million worldwide, have Parkinson's disease.
My grandpa, Merv Luedeke, died while battling Parkinson's. He is the only relative in our family to be struck by Parkinson's (that we're aware of) but many of my friends have been touched by this awful disease in one way or another.
I've joined Team Hope to beat Parkinson's for the National Parkinson's Foundation and we will run the New York City Marathon November 6th, 2016. My goal is to raise $2,500. Any contribution would be so greatly appreciated.
