BENEFITING: Good Shepherd United Methodist Church
EVENT DATE: Sep 15, 2015
Thanks to all of you...We Did It!
Three-thousand children in the Guatemalan village of San Andres have never shrieked down a slide or reached for the sky in a swing. Join us to build a playground and make their dreams come true! With a tax deductible donation, you can help us provide a new playground where the children of San Andres can play safely -- where their spirits can soar and their shouts and laughter ring out!
San Andres Mayor Milton Mendez and Vice Mayor Hector Giron have provided a site next to the new town hall where we have started to build! The playground will be a locally designed and built, highly creative, low-maintenance, distinctive playground specially developed to give children plenty of fun and pleasure. Project supervision is being led by Christophe Caron--a Canadian urban planner/designer who has lived near San Andrés for the last 20 years--together with a group of highly-enthusiastic and dedicated local workers.
We plan to cut the ribbon on Phase 1 of the playground in September 2015. The inaugural event will include a large sign with your names to recognize your generous support. Afterward, we envision a Phase 2 where we hope to add other amenities to the park, including a fitness area for teenagers and bathrooms--so stay tuned!
A special thanks to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Madison, Alabama who has graciously offered to collaborate on this project so your donations can be tax deductible.
