3000 children in the Guatemalan village of San Andres have never shrieked down a slide or reached for the sky in a swing. Together, let's build a playground to make their dreams come true!
San Andres is a beautiful community overlooking magical Lago Peten Itza. Despite its beauty, the community lacks resources to provide a safe play area for its children. The existing play equipment is old, rusty, jagged, and dangerous, and it resides in an undesirable area. With a tax deductible donation you can help us provide a new playground where the children of San Andres can play safely -- where their spirits can soar and their shouts and laughter ring out!
San Andres Mayor Milton Mendez and Vice Mayor Hector Giron have reserved a spacious area along the lakefront for a new playground. Our project team, led by Dan Irwin, in collaboration with Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Madison, Alabama, is asking for your help as we attempt to raise $77,000 to purchase, ship, build, and install a state-of-the-art, commercial grade, high-capacity playground in the village. We want to present the playground to the community in December to make Christmas 2013 bright for some very special little children in a place where life can sometimes be pretty hard. Let this be your opportunity to bring joy to the world.
