There really is no better place than a good ol' fashioned sandbox for children to immerse themselves in imaginative play. And PDN has just such an area, affectionately called "the quarry," that needs some help. It's already a good place for children to take a Tonka truck or two, dig a little and create a miniature construction site. But it could be so much better. The dirt-to-sand ratio has gotten a bit too dirty and not enough sandy. And the edges of the pit are rough chunks of concrete. We can do better.
For $2,000 we can make it our own full-on get-your-shovel-and-pail-watch-out-here-comes-Godzilla-go-barefoot-when-its-warm-let-the-sand-run-through-your-fingers pit of fun.
You can be part of something special for just $1 per pound. Thank you for any amount you can give!
Here's more info:
In PDN's upper yard, anything is possible when children start playing around in the sand--especially if a little water is thrown into the mix. It's also a great opportunity for social and cooperative play, as children learn how to build things together (and to resist the temptation to scatter someone else's creation to the wind). Plus, we all know they're going to be spending 85% of their futures in front of computers (or worse) ...shouldn't they get a little bit dirty now while they still have the chance?
Hey, as long as you're here, how about checking out our other projects:
