Dear Pat, Thank you very muc…
Dear Pat,
Thank you very much for your generous $100 donation to help us with out of pocket expenses for Ivy's journey. My mother is lucky that she made such good friends at Tryon high school. I often envy the relationships she made because my high school class was not so close.
Please forgive me that I am using the “crowdrise thank you prompt” to write thank you notes. I am trying to fit everything in and this is a great way to acknowledge people although it does go against my etiquette “rules.” I’ve always been a pen/paper and handwritten note kind of girl! Anyhow, thank you very much. Chris and I really do appreciate the support as we are looking at multiple surgeries and lots of travel expenses. It scares me on so many levels but I am leaning on the love and support of friends and family and on my faith, and trying to strengthen that.
A brief update that I have not added to my blog yet…Dr. Bauer, the pediatric plastic surgeon, who is overwhelmingly considered the leading expert in the United States for nevus removal and practices in Chicago, invited us for a consult at his vacation house in Kiawah, SC, two weekends ago. We drove down and met with him for two hours. The man is amazing; he’s done hundreds of such removals and has developed the surgical techniques and tissue expanders which are standard protocol. He took his time and explained every step of the journey, answered every question in detail and debunked the few criticisms we’d heard. We did consult last week with another pediatric plastic surgeon at Duke who trained under Bauer but we are choosing 35 years of experience and the man regarded as the one of the best in the world. We feel blessed that we will have the opportunity to work with him. At this point, we’re tentatively anticipating starting Ivy’s journey in the fall when she is just over 6 months old, although no surgery dates have been firmed up yet. We are hopeful that all surgeries will be complete by the time she starts kindergarten. Please continue to follow her progress at my blog, www.IvysIncredibleJourney.weebly.com.
Again, please accept our most sincere, heart-felt gratitude for your donation to assist us with Ivy’s life changing journey!
Love, Robin
