EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
For most of my life, I always found a reason to avoid running. It didn't interest me. It was boring. In my mind, I couldn't do it and wouldn't be good at it. I had already lost the mental battle.
Then three years ago, I discovered a personal motivation to make running a part of my regular exercise routine. In an effort to be more physically fit, be more active and live a healthier lifestyle, I started to run. After a few months of consistent training, I saw immediate and positive results.
With these results, I have continuously sought out new challenges to test my mental and physical fortitude. Having completed a few half marathons, I am ready for a new challenge...the Boston Marathon.
I feel truly blessed to be given this opportunity and be a part of this historic race. I have already started my training program, which includes developing the mental strategies required for race day:
- One stride at a time
- Run your race and not anyone else's
- Finish the race
While achieving this personal goal would be monumental, I am even more excited that my run will help to support a great charity. Pathways and its' team really gives youths in our community a chance to succeed. For more information, please continue reading and check out their website (http://www.pathwaystoeducation.ca).
If you are able to connect with my story and wish to support me and the Pathways to Education charity, then feel free to make a donation. Thank you for visiting my page and see you at the finish line!
