BENEFITING: BREAST CANCER COALITION OF ROCHESTER INC
EVENT DATE: May 08, 2016
Confused and frightened, I turned to the Coalition shortly after my diagnosis of breast cancer in 2004. I quickly learned that my story, like the stories of all survivors, is unique. Each one presents its own challenges and uncertanties, and each one matters. As the weeks and months of treatment stretched into years, I gained invaluable knowledge about what was happening to me through the compassionate voices of my fellow survivors. When the time came for me to give back to this amazing group, I gladly did so. Eventually, I joined the staff to oversee a support program. Through all this time, I have been amazed at the things the Coalition has accomplished in the areas of support, education, advocacy, and research, empowering those affected by breast cancer to face their diagnoses in the best way possible, and to add their voices to the public dialogue that seeks an end of this disease. Our small staff of ten couldn't do what we do without a small army of volunteers and the generous donations of contributors to the Pink Ribbon Walk and Run. I promise that your donation will make a difference, and it will be used thoughtfully and with gratitude.
