When I was 13 years old I wrote about one day working with NASA. Now that dream is about to become a reality.
I have been accepted into Singularity University http://www.singularityu.org at NASA Ames, founded by Google, AutoDesk and some of the most brilliant minds of our time.
I have decided to focus on Education (or what I would like to call "EDU-TAINMENT" ) and use my experience in Simulation Based Learning, Virtual Reality, Holography, Art, Mixed Reality (using Avatars and Virtual Worlds) for integrated solutions.
For a sneak peak of my previous work, see the video on the left. I created the proof of concept - which was the first in the world to achieve Live Action to Avatar using Holographic Projection).
The team project I will be involved in at Singularity University will impact 1 BILLION people in the next 10 years! What I want to contribute, and what your donation will help to pay for, is not just my participation.
I am planning to webcast (including via virtual worlds) presentations, classes, and provide live interviews from NASA Ames to a local school in San Diego for homeless kids- and anyone else who is interested in receiving a $25,000 education for free. I recently found out these homeless kids watch TED talks!
In creating a project to impact 1 billion people, it seemed right to involve people of all walks of life. I believe in giving everyone an opportunity to interact, hear and see what projects are being developed that will ultimately impact them.
Please help to support my dream by donating what you can (and I really mean this, if all you can give is $5, then I am honored and grateful that you believe in me and took a few minutes out of your life to contribute).
I would like to thank my mentors who believed in me and gave me the recommendations for Singularity University. I honor them by taking what they have taught me and using it as a foundation for what I'm about to create:
- Dick Schultz (ex-President of the U.S. Olympic Committee)- a man who knows what it means to be a citizen of the world and someone who has impacted millions of people in a positive way.
- Maurizio Seracini (Director of CISA3 at Calit2, NatGeo Fellow)- a man who has dedicated his life to World Cultural Heritage and the documentation and preservation of great works of art. He always said that "to know where we are going, we have to know where we have been".
- Thomas Smith (President of K2)- a man of high integrity and honor who taught me about Simulation Based Learning, Virtual Reality, and keeping a balance between technology and what it means to be human. From his stories of working for NASA to his adventures documenting tribes in the Amazon, he has accomplished so much and is humble, funny, and dedicated to his family.
"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants"
Thank you gentlemen, in gratitude I rise!
I would also like to thank the following people and organizations for supporting and inspiring me on my journey:
Dennis Batt (Virtual World Producer/ San Diego Visual Artists Guild)
Joyce Bettencourt (Creative Director of The Vesuvius Group)
Dr. Ken Druck (President of Druck Enterprises Inc.)
2101 Media Group
Greg Maestro (President of Deviate Media/ Kids in the Cloud initiative)
Nathan Makino (President of ImTech)
Kate McCallum (Millennium Project- Global Future Studies and Research)
Jonathan Rand (President of Organic Motion)
