BENEFITING: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
I did it! I finished the NYC Marathon yesterday with my best time ever! I'm never going to break any records, but I did shave 36 minutes off my Paris marathon time, which is amazing to me! Thank you so much for all of your generosity and support...it helped carry me through to the finish line. And if you haven't donated yet, it's not too late! Please help me get to my final fundraising goal!
I'm doing another marathon - the Arizona Rock and Roll Marathon on January 15, 2012 - and will dedicate it again to Patrick, Holly and all of the family and friends of my donors who are struggling with or have struggled with cancer. Therefore, I am extending my deadline to allow those of you who haven't had a chance to donate to do so! Please forward to any friends who may be interested in contributing as well.
I had started training for the NYC Marathon in June, but really, I've been preparing for this race longer than that...ever since I lost my cousin and my friend to cancer. Finishing this race is an incredible feeling, but what would be even more amazing is to make any impact in the fight against cancer.
I completed the Boston Half-Marathon last year for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and want to fundraise this year for the same charity as I prepare for the ING New York City Marathon. I promised my friend Holly Gilbert that I would run NYC in her honor...unfortunately she passed away from cancer in 2007 before I could get into the race. I would also like to dedicate my race to my cousin, Patrick Singh, who passed away from lymphoma in 2005. Won't you help me?
Thanks in advance for your support and for helping make a difference!
