Three years ago I made a decision that forever changed how I feel about my birthday: I decided to donate my birthday to The Max Foundation for years to come; $100 for every year of my life. So as I am turning 58 (was born in 1958 in fact) my minimum target this year is $5,800 by July 31st. My goal: to support those who are facing cancer in underserved regions of the world. You might have seen the statistics, while two thirds of all cancer deaths happen in low and middle income countries, only 5 percent of global cancer resources are dedicated to these countries. And while 90 percent of children diagnosed with ALL leukemia in high income countries will survive, survival is less than 5 percent in many countries. The Max Foundation is a leading organization supporting people facing cancer in low and middle income countries, and I am proud of the achievements. Daily I am witness to the courage of patients and their families, the generosity of those survivors who turn to advocates, the commitment of health care providers, and the impact that can be achieved when all stakeholders work together. It is their courage, generosity and commitment that inspire me every day and it is with pleasure and wholeheartedly that I donate my birthday to ensure health equity. I make it easy for you, no worries about what to get this old soul for yet one more birthday. From the comfort out your home and with the help of CrowdRise, you can give me the best gift i could ever want, by sending your contribution toThe Max Foundation. I will be forever grateful to you, and thank you in advance.
