As many of you know, I am a proud, passionate supporter of The Pittsburgh Promise and am a member of their Grassroots Committee. On October 18, 2014, The Pittsburgh Promise is sponsoring a 13 mile, city-wide, pilgrimage to support The Pittsburgh Promise and Pittsburgh’s kids. Since I cracked my talus bone in my ankle last month, I am not able to walk, but I am sponsoring a school stop on the walk by committing to raise $1,000.00. Please join me in my sponsorship of the Phillips school stop which is the last leg of the walk bringing community leaders together to support The Pittsburgh Promise. Any donation is appreciated regardless of size. Remember UPMC will match every $1.50 donated with $1.00, so every dollar counts! Thank you for your donation and I hope to see you on the 18th at the celebration and cookout at Sci-Tech!
Purpose of the Walk for One Promise:
We are walking to raise funds and awareness because many of our city’s children are suffering serious educational inequality. We believe that together we must link elbows around all of our kids to ensure that their lives, which are full of promise, are also full of opportunity. All proceeds from the walk will benefit The Pittsburgh Promise which safeguards that opportunity by providing college scholarships.
Show your support for The Pittsburgh Promise and Pittsburgh’s kids by walking or donating.
All are also welcome and encouraged to join us on October 18th at the finish line of the walk, for a free celebration and cookout at Sci -Tech in Oakland around 1:30pm!
