The Warrior Walk...need I say anything else? You know, a couple of years ago, I was sitting in church listening to a friend of mine give a message. He was talking about names and their meaning. At the end of the message, he asked two questions: What name would you give yourself? And - what name does God want to give you? The name I wanted to give myself...that was easy. Worrier. The name God wanted to give me? I didn't know but then one morning it came to me. Warrior. God wanted me to be a warrior. I thought about how the two words were so close in spelling yet so far apart in meaning. I felt like God was trying to prepare me for something although I wasn't sure what it was.
Last year, I found out. A miraculous diagnosis - aggressive lung cancer found in Stage 1. God's hand was definitely on the situation, but it was clear that I would have to fight. We would have to fight. And we are. And so far we're winning.
Cancer survivorship is about fighting. It is about fighting and sharing your story; about learning and sharing your knowledge. Because we all have a better chance when we fight together.
Please help us celebrate our one-year milestone by joining us on June 2, National Cancer Survivor's Day, as hundreds will come together to support Judy's Fund at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center. http://warriorwalk.urmc.edu
