Teso Wedding Gift for the Homeless
Organized by: Esin Tanya
Dear friends and family, We thank you for your generosity and in taking interest in a cause that will make an impact in the life of others. As you know, Paul and I met while working in the Sonoma County jail, as strange as it may sound, a place that we have grown to love. The jail is a place where you witness the best and the worst in people on a daily basis. It is a place where good people are trying to make the best out of a broken criminal justice system. It is a place where our most vulnerable and oppressed end up. Santa Rosa's residents dealing with serious mental health issues end up in a vicious cycle of homelessness and incarceration. Due to lack of access to housing and mental health treatment, mentally ill inmates are released to the streets (sometimes in the middle of night with no jacket). There is only one emergency shelter in Santa Rosa willing to secure a bed for these individuals, when they are released in the middle of the night, and that is the Redwood Gospel Mission. This cause is dear to our hearts because we see the work they do on a daily basis. If it weren't for the Redwood Gospel Mission, hundreds of Santa Rosa's residents would go hungry and in some cases freeze to death. We would feel so grateful and honored if, instead of buying us a wedding gift, you would consider donating that same amount to our cause. A representative from the Redwood Gospel Mission will be at our reception to receive the check and to thank you for your generosity.
