Friends and Family- I hope …
Friends and Family-
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and of course wanted to thank all of YOU all for your continued support and well wishes. I wanted to give an update as to my current situation. As of November 22nd I was informed that the cystic membrane that was left attached to my brain is now filling up with a solid mass and fast. Given two options, going in for another biopsy or hitting it with radiation, we opted for the additional biopsy. We decided to do this based on the neurosurgeons concern of using such an aggressive form such as radiation on an unknown mass. We are hoping the new mass is benign, just like the cystic membrane biopsied before, but will not know the pathology report until after the surgery is done. We have the approval for the surgery to be done as early as this Thursday, December 4th, but are still awaiting the approval of the hospital. Hearing the news that it had returned and was growing at a much faster rate was the last thing I thought we were going to hear going into my check up. I was gaining my strength back and looking forward to returning to work and normal life at the beginning of December. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case and my journey with this is still in full swing. I appreciate everything you all have done and wish you a very happy holiday season. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, we definitely need them! Xoxo Sierra

Hello! Thank you all again f…
Hello!
Thank you all again for your contributions to my fund. I wanted to give you a bit of an update and let you know what your donations have helped support. On October 16th I went in for my surgery to remove the tumor. As many of you know, the tumor was unable to be removed completely, but it was able to be drained. They were also able to find out that it is indeed benign (some of the most relieving news of my life). They were unable to determine what the tumor was filled with, but they were able to determine that it was a cyst. Because we don't know what the cyst was filled with they don't know the exact type of tumor it was. This also means we don't know what it will do now. It could simply sit there for the rest of my life deflated causing no harm and have no further side effects. Or it could fill back up with the liquid and possibly impact my vision again. For this reason it is very important that we continue to monitor it with routine MRIs and blood work. After I left the hospital from my initial visit, I was readmitted due to complications with my pituitary gland function. This left my sodium levels dangerously low. After three days in the hospital they were able to stabilize my sodium levels (when I originally left the hospital I was at 140, I was readmitted at 113 and left this last time at 128). On Wednesday night I was discharged and am now at home having to monitor my liquid intake, limited to 1200ml of water a day (including ALL liquids or anything that would melt at room temp and foods with high water content i.e. watermelon, corn, applesauce, jello, etc.). Needless to say this is extremely challenging. My body isn't being dehydrated because I actually have too much "free" water in me right now, that's the problem. I wanted you all to On Monday I meet with both my kidney specialist and my neurosurgeon to see where we are at. Hopefully my fluid restriction will be lifted and we can see how my body reacts to normal amounts of fluid with the help of the steroid they have me on. I cannot thank you all enough for caring about me, your thoughts and prayers lift me up at times when things seem so hopeless. Xoxo Sierra

Aunt Kim & Uncle Paul-
Thank you so much for your generous donation, it was in no way expected. Although this is a scary time for Michael and myself, having family and friends who are there for us is beyond comforting. We are currently in the middle of getting health coverage, but in the meantime we have been paying for doctors visits, MRIs and consultations out of pocket. As someone who prides themselves on fiscal responsibility it is a hard pill to swallow and a humbling experience to look to others for help. Thank you again for your support, we look forward to this all being over and focusing on our future. We love you! Xox Sierra
