BENEFITING: Saha Global
My name is Paul and I am currently a Field Representative for Saha Global. Saha Global is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable social businesses that provide basic services, like water and electricity. These businesses are owned and operated by women in the communities they serve, and use simple, affordable technologies. The maintenance and operation of these businesses is funded by revenue from the business sales, while the capital necessary to establish them is generated from fundraising activities. All businesses implemented by Saha Global to date are currently in operation, providing necessary clean water and electricity to residents and providing a small income for the women who run them.
During December and January I will be working in Northern Ghana with three other Field Representatives to set up a solar business in a village currently lacking access to electricity. Once set up, this locally sustainable business will provide a permanent source of electricity for 700-1000 people in Ghana.
Saha Global is tackling global development issues in a unique way, and I’m really excited to be working with them! As mentioned before, the capital necessary to establish these businesses is generated through fundraising, and as a Field Representative, I’m responsible for generating a portion of that. The funds I raise will go directly towards starting the solar business my teammates and I will be establishing, and ensuring that it keeps running after we leave. I would greatly appreciate your help in this endeavor - every donation makes a difference!
