Dear Family and Friends, I …
Dear Family and Friends,

I am reaching back out to all of you wonderful people who donated to the Boston One fund on behalf of TeamRVA. We want you to know that your donations as of today total $6,700! This total absolutely crushes our goal of $5,000!! There is no doubt that your donations will make a positive impact on the lives of the bombing victims and we just cannot THANK YOU enough. Knowing Monday, April 21st, will be a special day with your support, we have trained steadily through a record-breaking winter for this event, and we intend to “give it our all” on behalf of YOU and those individuals whose lives were lost or so tragically impacted one year ago.

You will be in our thoughts when we experience the following:

• A half million more spectators in addition to the normal half million.
• The tightest security any marathon has ever seen.
• School bus transportation to the start line in Hopkinton without any supporting gear, 3 hours before race start.
• Starting the 118th Boston Marathon in Wave One (1st 9,000 competitors) at 10 a.m. sharp.
• Running alongside “Team Hoyt,” with father Dick pushing son Rick, who has Cerebral Palsy, in a wheelchair in their last of over 30 Boston Marathons.
• Going numb from the incredibly loud screams of Wellesley College students near the half-way point.
• Running up the last four Newton hills and cresting Heartbreak Hill between mile 20 and 21 with legs growing weary and glycogen stores running low.
• Running past John A. Kelley’s statue (whose “heart” was “broken” by “Tazan” Brown in the 1936 Boston Marathon).
• And then running the most humble and emotional last 6.2 miles of our lives…

“A marathon is a race without race, without color, without religion, without sex, without prejudice, without nationality, without hate. A marathon is a race where everyone starts as an equal and everyone finishes a winner.”

Thanks from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity!!
