BENEFITING: HUMANE SOCIETY OF POMONA VALLEY INC
EVENT DATE: May 21, 2016
Inland Valley Humane Society (SPCA) is having a Paws 4 Pets Walk at Bonnelli Park in San Dimas CA on May 21 2016. I am donating money and will be at the event as a vendor. I am also giving 25% of sales proceeds to the event. As a team member, I would like to get an extra $1,000.00 for my event. Here's a story about my cat Andy: My life as a cat. I was one of the fortunate cats. I was left outside a vet’s office in California. Being so cute and cuddly, I was adopted rather quickly. My sister stayed behind. Our vet decided since my sister was born with half a brain, she would house her, feed her, and take real good care of her. I can’t really remember my sister because as a cat, I would not know she was my sister even after visiting her several times during my 17 year life span. When the “Misses” takes me to the vet’s office, and checks in on my sister, there is something special going on with her emotions. See as a cat I may not recognize my sister, but I do know the Misses emotions…good and bad..so something special is going on that I do recognize. Now, for the rest of my life’s story. The Misses and Mister have had three dogs during my life span. Reba, was the one I got to know when I was a kitten. I loved Reba and loved being around her, but she died of an enlarged heart. Well it wasn’t long before I had a new sister. Her name was lulu. Unfortunately, lulu made me really sick because she became very violent. The Misses and Mister really had no choice but to put her down to sleep. After months of therapy, medication, and a week with the vet, lulu got worse and worse. She had a brain tumor. Things were pretty sad around our house. We lost lulu on a Friday. The following Saturday the Misses came back with another lulu. The Mister was shaken up because he thought the Misses took lulu to the vet so she could sleep forever. But the Misses clarified that the lulu she was holding was a new one. See, the Misses and Mister adopt from a dog rescue, called “For the Love of Animals.” Now, Joe, the owner, knew what had happened to lulu 1, because before making a final decision the Misses consulted with Joe. Joe and the vet concluded giving lulu permanent sleep was the most “humane” thing to do. So when the Misses went to Joe to bring lulu’s bed and blankets for her other pets, Joe had lulu #2 waiting. So, before you know it, lulu was back again and she became my friend. It was really nice to have a playmate around. lulu is 4 years old and I am turning 17. Sometimes, I cry because I’m afraid. lulu always comforts me when she knows I’m scared. And I cry for treats because lulu loves to eat. So to keep me quiet, the Misses and Mister get up to get the treats for me and lulu. Lucky for lulu, she gets twice as much…the treats I leave behind, and the ones that she gets. Smart, right? Well like I said, I was one of the lucky ones. There are so many more who need good loving homes. So if you think you would be a good parent to a pet, then go ahead and adopt from the Humane Society. But only if you can be responsible and reliable to treat you pet with care and love it needs. Don’t lose patience either. Remember, many pets have a difficult beginning and need time to adjust. So lots of love, kisses and hugs will help them forget what it was like before they came into your family. Hope you will support your local humane society and ASPCA. Us innocent animals deserve a break and depend on you to help us. Thank you from Andy the Cat, and my sister lulu the Dog. Also, our cousin Bella from New Jersey.
