Pawsitive Independence Service Dogs, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity that adopts rescue puppies and trains them to be service dogs for the disabled. The service dogs are trained according to the needs of the person with a disability. There is NO CHARGE to the person with the disability. It is widely known that it can take up to $30,000 to raise a service animal. Our dogs are raised by volunteer "puppy raisers" that attend trainings with their puppy, take them to work and work with them on the unique skills needed by their future partner, then when the puppies are ready they are matched to their new partner. Puppy Raisers are hard to find. Not only are puppy raisers responsible for the food, veterinary costs and general day to day upkeep of the puppy in training, but they also selflessly give of their time while raising the puppy, knowing they will be making a difference in the life of a disabled person when that puppy is placed. Currently we have many more applications for service dogs than we have puppy raisers. We need donations to offset the cost of feeding, veterinary bills and training equipment, as well as liability insurance. With financial assistance we should be able to recruit more puppy raisers and meet the rising demand of people that need service animals. We provide service dogs for children with autism, people with diabetes and anyone with physical disabilities that would like more independence in the community.
We are dedicated to rescuing, training and raising dogs for people with disabilities. These service dogs will enrich their lives, provide assistance and lead to a more independent and fulfilling life.
