BENEFITING: Humane Animal Rescue
ORGANIZER: Humane Animal Rescue
EVENT DATE: May 04, 2014
Earlier this year, I completed my first marathon by running the 2013 Pittsburgh Marathon. After conquering the marathon for myself, I realized that running could become a way to put something back out into the world, to share the benefits of my energy and enthusiasm with others.
Reading about the Pittsburgh Marathon charity partners, I was immediately drawn to Paws Over Pittsburgh, the fundraising team of the Animal Rescure League Shelter and Wildlife Center. The Animal Rescue League is the only local shelter that cares for not only domestic animals, such as cats and dogs, but also wild animals in need in need of healthcare and rehabilitation before they are re-released into the wild. The Animal Rescue League is a charity partner that I trust to make the most of the donations I raise. They hold the highest possible rating of 4-stars on Charity Navigator, meaning that more of the money goes directly to the animals and very little goes to overhead. The Animal Rescue League holds a special place in my heart as it is where my family adopted our first dog, Augie, over 30 years ago!
If you too support the care of animals in need, and you are able to do so, please support my campaign. The Animal Rescue League and I appreciate donations of any amount. Thank you for visiting my campaign page!
Curious about where your money will go? Here are some of the ways they'll use the funds we raise:
- $30 will cover the cost of micro-chipping a cat or dog.
- $50 will provide low-cost spay/neuter services to a family who couldn’t otherwise afford it.
- $100 will provide behavioral training for an animal to help her find a new home more quickly.
- $1,000 will cover the total care for an animal that stays in our shelter for one month.
