BENEFITING: Humane Animal Rescue
ORGANIZER: Humane Animal Rescue
EVENT DATE: May 04, 2014
Oh yay! You've made it! I've been waiting for you guys--welcome, welcome . . .
Last month, I decided to run a half marathon. I decided this from the wamth and comfort of my couch, snuggled beneath my cozy blanky, possibly with a cup of tea in my hand. It was so awesome(ly abstract)!
And then I had to figure out how to go for a run in 4 degrees with a subzero windchill and hey! Adventure! I love adventure!
And then I had to keep doing that. Because, it turns out, that is how you train for a distance running thing; you have to keep doing it. Repeatedly. Every day, even. Over and over and over and--not gonna lie, my commitment flagged round about the time I discovered I needed to put Aquaphor on my face to keep the frigid wind from cracking it off my skull.
Then I saw a video about running for the Animal Rescue League and and I resolved to carry on, and to make my exertions meaningful beyond my own cardiovascular improvement.
So I want to make a deal with you. I will do all the heavy lifting: I will drag my butt up and down snow-covered hills in ungodly temperatures for the rest of this winter in order to prepare myself to crawl across the finish line in May, if you will throw a few bucks at the Animal Rescue League.
Just *click* and then you're done, and I will still be trying not to break a hip on unshoveled sidewalks. I will run and cry and vomit so that as many critters as possible can have safety and warmth and food and, ultimately, good forever homes.
You see my sweet Karmie's face up there? Or over there on the left, in the slide show? Yessssssss . . . you see that sweet face. That is a SWEET FACE. A sweet, happy puppy face.
Give that face ALL THE MONEY!
Your donations help to provide:
- $30 will cover the cost of micro-chipping a cat or dog.
- $50 will provide low-cost spay/neuter services to a family who couldn’t otherwise afford it.
- $100 will provide behavioral training for an animal to help her find a new home more quickly.
- $1,000 will cover the total care for an animal that stays in our shelter for one month.
Help me help the Animal Rescue League help the critters. And THANK YOU. From the bottom of my absolutely frozen, do-I-seriously-have-to-run-in-this-windchill, full-to-bursting over whatever you can give little heart.
