Event Date & Time: Wed., July 31st @ 7pm (~1.5 hrs including 1-hr workout)
Event Location: Pearl Studios NYC (500 Eighth Ave. between 35th & 36th Sts.)
Fundraising: All participants are asked to reach a suggested minimum fundraising target of $100 by joining the team on this site and gathering donations from colleagues, friends, and family (which has the nice side effect of spreading the word about HealthClass2.0!).
About the event & HealthClass2.0:
Join a fun and invigorating intenSati workout class led by HealthClass2.0 co-founder, Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, and intenSati creator, Patricia Moreno. This event benefits HealthClass2.0 and is sponsored by Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP's Pay It Forward initiative. All funds raised for this event will be donated to HealthClass2.0 (subject to Crowdrise's transaction fee on all online donations).
HealthClass2.0, recently featured on Fox's Good Day New York is an innovative experiential education program empowering students at Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, New York City schoolchildren, and their communities to engage in new conversations about health, food, and exercise, and to transform their own lives and the world around them.
HealthClass2.0 defines education and health broadly, focusing on learning about fitness and food as an avenue to develop young people’s reflective and decision-making capabilities, and to cultivate a strong sense of self. Teaching young people about the systemic factors that have helped create the interconnected poverty and obesity epidemics globally, HealthClass2.0 equips children with the tools to make informed decisions to shift not only their personal health and habits, but also the societal structures which limit people’s ability to make such choices today.
Each session is developed around a particular theme, but in all sessions participants do three things:
1) EXERCISE in an intenSati workout that combines high-energy, easy-to-follow movement with spoken affirmations and fun music.
2) EAT a healthful, locally-sourced snack provided by our founding partner, BluePrintJuice, as well as other food donors.
3) ENGAGE in a thoughtful discussion of the food they are consuming and the connection between their personal choices and their potential to effect change in their own communities.
