Payton's Miracle Liver Transplant fund
Organized by: shakisha bailey
Payton was born on 4 September 2015. In the hospital her eyes were always yellow but doctors told us not to worry. Payton had several appointments with doctors to address her jaundice eyes and her projectile vomiting. She was placed on acid reflux and changed from breast milk to a gentle ease formula. At Payton's 2 months well baby the nurse practitioner noticed Payton's eyes and distended belly. She immediately sent us to have blood work done. Just what she expected Payton's liver panel was abnormally high. She called to let me know the results but she also needed Payton to go have a liver ultrasound ASAP. The next day my daughter was going to be admitted into the hospital at Medical College of Georgia for Children. She had a 5 day stay where they tested Payton for everything under the sun. The 2 most important test would be her liver biopsy and a HIDA scan. The doctors were sure Payton was suffering from Neo Natal Hepatitis. Which for us would be better than Biliary Artesia. She was released from the hospital but was to continue care with the pediatric GI Doctor. She ran multiple test and was praying that Payton didn't have BA. On January 5, 2016 Payton was transferred to CHOA to see the hepatologist. On January 11 Payton was diagnosed with Biliary Artesia a rare liver disease suffered by only 1 and 15000 children. Payton was listed for a liver transplant on Feb 11,2015. She received her second chance at life on Feb 28!! Since her transplant she has done amazing but she needs medicine and constant hospital visits. Please help this cheerful 1 year old.
