BENEFITING: LINDAS HOPE
EVENT DATE: Aug 31, 2015
Linda’s Hope is a local (Nashville), grassroots non-profit, raising awareness, compassion, hope, and research funding for pancreatic cancer. The team leading Linda’s Hope is qualified and driven to eviscerate pancreatic cancer. Our Board of Directors and volunteers are highly motivated to raise community awareness and support those who have been affected by pancreatic cancer. Whether it is through a personal story of losing a loved one, or a heart to service others, our goal is to create hope for a seemingly hopeless disease. Hope comes in many forms. It could be that a patient is not alone during chemotherapy treatments, or that a volunteer caregiver can provide a listening ear. Those involved with Linda’s Hope want to help carry the burden of this disease by providing a service of community assistance and awareness. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly cancers, as well as the most under-funded. In order to see a change in the statistics of pancreatic cancer’s survival rates, Linda’s Hope will strive to donate a significant amount of funding for research. We have completed a goal of $100,000 to an endowment with Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center for pancreatic cancer research. Additionally, we have committed to funding a Discovery Grant at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and another $50,000 towards our endowment. In whole, we will be giving another $100,000 to pancreatic cancer research. Linda’s Hope’s goal is to educate people on the statistics of the disease and encourage them to support research funding. Many types of cancer have made major strides over the past forty years; while progress in tackling Pancreatic Cancer has remained stagnant.
