BENEFITING: KATIES KRUSADERS
EVENT DATE: Oct 04, 2014
EDIT 2 April 2014: 2014 Dragonboat Race Team is A-Go, and the goal is to raise more money than in 2013 for Katie's Krusaders and Camp Can-Do (a summer camp for children with cancer that's desperately in need of 2014 funding)... stay tuned to this space for more details!
Hi folks! So, like one does, I ended up volunteering for a racing team for the 2013 Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival alongside friend and fellow bon vivant Greg Curley (who first brought the event to my attention).
As fate would have it, the first captain to respond is the head of Katie's Krew (http://www.katieskrusaders.com), a veteran team and charity-based organization with a great mission: to raise our community's, and ultimately the nation's, awareness of the incidence of cancer in children, as well as support the Ronald McDonald House at St. Christopher's Hospital in Philadelphia.
My additional motivation? A young man and his family with whom I have been close my entire life are very familiar with the hard-working doctors and staff of the Oncology Ward at St. Chris's... so teaming up with this boat and crew seem to be a match destined to be.
Here's where you come in: The races are October 5th. That's not a lot of time to raise money, but I'd love to raise a good chunk of change to donate. I'm hoping to be able to cover my and my friend's entry fees via donations, but every other cent raised will be directly donated through Katie's Krusaders and will benefit the efforts of St. Christopher's Hospital.
I'll also be sending an exclusive poster (by me) to every person who donates $10 or more... illustration details in the second image to the left! When the fundraiser is over, I'll send an email contacting you for shipping information.
If you have any further questions, please contact me. Cheers!
