THE STORY:

I will be participating in the 87th Peace Boat Global Voyage.

Peace Boat's mission is to "Build a Culture of Peace Around the World." They do this through cultural exchange, service projects, open forums, workshops/seminars and advocacy, while traveling to multiple countries to experience first hand life in a foreign country.

My focus is in "Education" more importantly improving education around the world and building, what I like to call "Schools of Change."

Schools of Change:
I have been teaching internationally for going on 7 years. I have a Masters degree in Teaching/Education as well as a Bachelors Degree in Adolescent Psychology and Non-Profit Management. I have seen first hand the NEED for change in education around the world.
Expected outcome: To brainstorm and build relationships with people interested in discussing and creating schools of change throughout the world. Visiting schools in port cities, creating pen pal programs connecting students with students from around the world, creating possible cultural exchange programs, raising funds for schools in need all while increasing language and literacy.

The 87th Global Voyage begins in April, 2015. It departs out of Japan and visits the following countries during its 103 days.

Countries (Ports) of Call: Japan, Singapore, India, Saudi Arabia, Suez Canal, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, Russia, Finland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Venezuela, Curacao, Panama Panama Canal, Guatemala, USA

I know that $15,000 dollars sounds like a LOT of money, but when you think about 103 breakfasts, lunches, dinners, accommodations, transport (on board), airfare to and from Japan, travel insurance, etc. It turns out to be $145 USD a day. I will also be having to cover visa costs (which can be very pricey) and all spending money.

For anyone that has ever been on a cruise you know that this cost is very reasonable for 3 1/2 months at sea.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE…any amount helps.

I will also be posting pictures and blogging when possible about my experience along the way and when I return to dry land.

We often hear people talk about the "problems" in the world but rarely discuss "solutions." I am committed to being part of the solution!
