Several Colgate University students are organizing a 3v3 charity basketball tournament to support PeacePlayers - a nonprofit that brings together young people in divided communities to overcome bias and discrimination through basketball. The Time: Wednesday 2/15 from 4:30 PM to 6 PM; and Saturday 2/13 from 1 PM to 1:45 PM and at halftime of the Colgate–Loyola Women's Varsity Basketball game! The Place: Colgate Huntington Gymnasium Upper Basketball Courts The Rules: On Wednesday 2/15 4:30PM-7PM there will be an exhibition/pool play period where each team of 3 can come out and play as many games as they want at Huntington Gym upper basketball courts. The top 8 teams will make it to the Saturday tournament. The first 6 games will be played at the Huntington Gym upper basketball courts and the championship game of the tournament will be played at the halftime of the Colgate–Loyola Women's Varsity Basketball game on Cotterell Court! There will also be an additional raffle with any donated goods or gift cards in front of Cotterell Court during the game. The Cause: “Children who play together can learn to live together” - PeacePlayers works in 15 countries around the world, including the Middle East, South Africa, Northern Ireland, and Washington D.C. Throughout the year children practice basketball in their own communities learning teamwork, tolerance and trust. Later, they begin to play with children of different religions and ethnicities on mixed teams so that they are not competing against each other; rather they are competing together. This is a great cause and it's for the kids. We thank you all for your support!
