BENEFITING: THREE SQUARE
EVENT DATE: Nov 27, 2014
Jayson Black began last Thanksgiving, like he does every year. No, not in the kitchen preparing for the day’s feast, but at his church, giving thanks for everything that he has been blessed with thus far in life. However, after Mass, Jayson began the painstaking task of running one marathon distance, 26.2 miles each day, for 26 consecutive days – all to raise awareness for, and to benefit, Three Square Food Bank. During his 681.2 mile, 26 day journey, advocating for and promoting this amazing organization, and through the generosity of people and businesses from across the country, Jayson and his support team were able to raise enough money and food product to provide in excess of 15,000 meals.
This year, Jayson has pledged, again, to hit the pavement in the hopes of bringing awareness and funds to support Three Square. While a majority of miles will be run throughout the Las Vegas Valley starting Thanksgiving Day through December 22nd, the highlight of this year’s project is running and biking from Mt. Whitney, California, back to Las Vegas--a 280-mile journey--in three days. Throughout the overall 26 day mission, Jayson and his team of volunteers have a goal to raise enough money and canned goods to equal 50,000 meals.
