Feeling the Buffalove
September 22, 2017
Peace Of The City is the real deal! Restoring young people to their birthright! An abiding sense of their worth and dignity by beholding each one, equipping them with skills (intellectual development, self-advocacy, micro-enterprise, etc) and fortifying them with experiences of joy and belonging
POTC is transformational because the staff and volunteers approach their service with humility, sincerity and passion! The dauntless dedication of all invloved is palpable in the shining smiles of children and youth satisfied with themselves and their efforts.
I discovered POTC when I was working for Say Yes at School #3. I began connecting children and youth and their families to POTC in 2013. About a year ago, I was honored to be invited to serve as a member of the Board.
I will ride- although I haven't ridden a bike in over 15 years!- for justice, for hope, for healing and for restoration in our city. Please support me as I Pedal for Peace!
Peace Of The City partners with SLOW ROLL Buffalo, Monday, September 25 in an effort to bring awareness to our neighborhood and promote a family friendly event.
All proceeds raised during the 2017 ride will benefit our Literacy For All program.
"Buffalo's poverty rate for children is second-worst in the U.S."
- Buffalo Business First, Sept. 2016
The youth poverty rate for NYC is 28%. For Chicago, the rate is 31%. In Buffalo, the youth poverty rate is 54%
Literacy For All is an opportunity for children reading below grade level to receive 1:1 and small-group literacy intervention services. There is regular progress-monitoring so the program can be tailored to the individual needs of each student.
We would love for you to join our team and set a goal of $100! If you can't ride with us on the 25th, send a love gift to help me reach my goal of $500 and our overall goal of $10,000!
Monday, September 25th
Ride starts at 6:30pm
