Project Name: Pedal for Power OUR MISSION: Raise Funds to Install a Solar Energy System on top of the Cross Roads House homeless shelter in Portsmouth How We Began: In 2014, Josh Andrews and Chris Pamboukes started with an ambitious idea to ride their bicycles down the entire West Coast from Vancouver, BC to San Diego, California. We then decided to use our bicycle journey as a platform to launch the Pedal For Power fundraising campaign. Pedal for Power’s Vision become one to help others, help the environment and inspire a community to support its local homeless shelter in a progressive way. Our Mission became a fundraiser to supply the necessary funds to install a solar energy system at Cross Roads House, a homeless shelter in Portsmouth, NH. The large energy system will produce great deals of clean energy and, as a result, will save the nonprofit $3,000+/year for the next 30 years or more! The clean energy array will also reduce the consumption of nonrenewable energy at a rate of 27,000lbs/year from the atmosphere. These monetary and energy savings can be translated to funding 3,000 meals to the residents at Cross Roads while planting 500 trees a year! Over the solar array’s lifespan, total savings for Cross Roads House is projected to be over $100,000. Today: After a series of promotional events, community outreach, and our 2,000 mile bicycle fundraiser in 2014, our efforts have succeeded in raising just over $12,000 to put towards the solar energy system. Today we now seek to fill a fundraising gap of an additional $10,000 to finalize fundraising and build the highly anticipated solar energy system.
