BENEFITING: PENCILS OF PROMISE INCORPORATED
ORGANIZER: PENCILS OF PROMISE INCORPORATED
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
If you know me and we've hung out recently, I've probably talked your ear off about my job at Pencils of Promise at some point. I am certain that education is the key to solving most of the world's greatest problems and I'm so proud to be a part of an organization that is working hard to support the futures of those in need all over the world. The more I learn about the work we do, the more I am impressed with the thought PoP puts into ever aspect of its impact; whether is partnering with communities before school builds to garnering the respect and support from local governments, these things ensure that PoP's impact will last. My trips to Guatemala and Ghana to see our work first hand has made it even more meaningful for me. Seriously, I could go on and on. I support PoP with my time and effort every day when I come into work, but now I want to support it, alongside my fiancé Matt, with my feet. Help us raise $2,000 for Pencils of Promise and we could help give educational opportunities to nearly 100 students in Ghana, Guatemala or Laos
Since I've been running half marathons and full marathons, I've wanted to run at least one race while raising money for a charity. I haven't really felt passionate about any one cause or organization until Amanda started working at Pencils of Promise. Over the past few years, I've had the pleasure of meeting people involved with PoP at all levels of the organization, and from all over the world. I can genuinely say that they are some of the most hard-working, dedicated, and passionate people I have ever met. Everybody within PoP is so committed to improving education for children across the globe, and their energy and enthusiasm is so motivating to see. That is why I'm proud to run my first marathon post-cancer for Pencils of Promise and the children around the world that deserve a quality education. Help us reach our goal and support this great organization.
ABOUT PENCILS OF PROMISE
Pencils of Promise (“PoP”) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2008 to increase access to quality education for children in the developing world. PoP works with communities across the globe to build schools and create programs that provide education opportunities for children, no matter where they were born or what resources they have available. PoP has built more than 300 schools throughout Laos, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Ghana, providing education opportunities to over 33,000 students and establishing itself as a leader amongst the innovative global nonprofits working toward sustainable social change. PoP believes that where you start in life shouldn't dictate where you finish. Learn more about PoP on their website (which Amanda helps design so I hope you like it)
