Pennies for Penny

I am a 75 yesr old single woman. Even though I am living on a fixed income SSI, my passion for shelter animals had lead me to adopt my dog Penny. She is a small mix breed dog that loves life and everyone and everything in it. She recently got very sick. When i took her to the vet, they had me go to a special clinic that specializes in lower stomach and GI surgery. The vet told me her required immediate surgery. I was not given a chance to get a second opinion. While the vet prepared her to go undergo into surgery, i was given the bill. It was $4500. I told them that i am on fixed income and could not afford it. The clinic staff offered me a personal line of credit and helped me get approval. After approval, I started to read thru the paper work. The interest rate is 25%+. I made my first payment recently. I won't be able to continue monthly payments much longer. Even with out this new debt, I am short each month to even buy milk or bread. I do not believe in not paying this debt off. I owe the clinic. I have considered to possibly get a job. But the jobs that i can get at my age ( cashier), I cannot do due to health issues. I do not have family that can help me. I am all alone and if I didn't have my dog Penny or cat Alice, I will be lost. My friends helped me pay for her meds and the $200 down pay. I know if they could do more, they would. Please consider helping me. Thank you for reading my story and God Bless. Eileen Santiago
