People and pets heal each other. My dog, Chance, helped me through depression and is a constant reminder of the joys in life. I was lucky. Too often, people have to give up their best friends when they need them the most. People and Pets Together has a truly unique philosophy that pets are family and that families should stay together. People shouldn't have to go without food or gas to provide for their pets.
I've learned so much from the board, volunteers, and guests since working here and am so grateful for the PPT community. You can help! A little goes a long way with this group...$25 can buy 250 pounds of food or cat litter. Imagine all those happy families.

We know pets are family. We help families stay together.
People & Pets Together assists families facing economic hardship by providing pet food to food shelves in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area, by operating a pet food shelf in Minneapolis (the first dedicated pet food shelf in Minnesota), with a veterinary assistance grant program, and through additional programs that keep pets and families together.
Pets help people live happier and healthier lives. The companionship of a pet can be even more important during times of economic hardship.
People & Pets Together, formerly The Pet Project, was founded in 2009 in response to the global economic downturn and heartbreaking stories of people who were forced to give up their pets due to financial hardship. Our mission is to support the relationships that people have with their pets, and to prevent the surrender of pets during times of economic crisis.
