BENEFITING: OKLAHOMA CITY NATIONAL MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
I am a 20 year old striving to run a marathon, and so I will be returning to the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. It is a race to honor the people who died and those left behind in the wake of the OKC bombing. Last year I decided I wanted to run a half marathon. I chose the OKC marathon to be my first because I had family members who had been to it in the past. But this race changed my life. There are 168 seconds of silence before the race in honor of the 168 victims who died just for showing up to work. With so many people at the event, it was amazing to witness the unity among us to remain silent. From that moment on I knew I wanted to do that race again. I wanted to go and see the survivors and support the event again. This year I will be attempting the full marathon. I have set that as a new goal, and now I want to help raise money too. This cause unites us as a country and a world. There were people from almost every state and even people from other countries. In light of our current society I think we need to unite for the good of all. Please donate. This cause supports a memorial that is often overlooked now days. But for those who witnessed it and survived it is still very real. Give a little, just a dollar or five and if you can, give more to support such a great cause.
