People Like Us
Organized by: Citizen Global
In 1990 I was watching the first Gulf War unfold from Syria. But I did not just watch, I went and did what I could. Because of my occupation, I knew people. My friends and colleagues were participating members in the government, a Syrian government of a different age. They are the people who made it happen. They are all gone now. We put into motion the evacuation of thousands of people by bus through Syria to where they could depart and go home. It was done in the same spirit that now motivates a new generation to help the refugees in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen. Refugees are people like us. That is why, nine months ago, I started reaching out and going after the idea that normal people can create an economic way for refugees to build something new and start over to remember what hope is. And now, with all our energy, our group is ready to turn all the connections we made into building organizations that incubate business opportunities and engage refugees. Refugees are the largest untapped source of creativity, ingenuity and skills that ever existed, which is why we are choosing refugees as our customers, competitors, and partners. Together, we are building a huge network that is enabling refugees to dig themselves out of harm's way. Our partner groups include Kricket, Pathways, MindUs and Mediators Without Borders and In -Country network. We are working together to do all of this. See us below. Here are two examples of our collaboratory efforts: Kricket.co Kricket is an app that helps NGOs, charities and refugees today by sharing map details and GPS information. Refugees are assisting each other by collaborating with others on their journey Check it out here: www.kricket.co We are finishing our own Pathways app to create financial opportunities for refugees. We designed Pathways to be a matchmaker that allows people to use the breadth of the internet to find others who have similar interests such as finding a job or starting a business, without disclosing their identity. This gives the user the ability to search for a job or business opportunity safely and avoid detection from hostile factions. Connections made on our site can then be discussed using our tools or more traditional means such as in-person meetings, over the phone or via the internet using chat and social media. Pathways will come online in the next couple of weeks. All of us are working together to do all of this. We need all of your talent ideas thoughts and contributions. Have ideas you want to create or know of a need where we could place people into an innovative commercial opportunity? Send it to us in a message and Donate! It is made possible by you!
